finna is a resale pricing tool that helps you identify products and estimate their resale value. We built it to be useful without being invasive. Here's exactly what happens with your data.
Photos you take: When you scan an item, your photo is sent to Google's Gemini AI API for product identification and pricing analysis. The photo is processed by Google's AI models and is not stored on our servers. We do not have access to your photos. Google's use of this data is governed by their Gemini API Terms of Service.
Scan data: When you scan or save an item, we collect anonymized usage data including: product name, description, category, condition, estimated value, cost, and pricing information. This data is stored in a secure database and is used to improve our pricing accuracy, understand usage patterns, and enhance the product. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or location as part of this data. Each device is assigned a random session identifier that is not linked to any personal identity.
Search queries: When looking up eBay sold prices, a text search query (based on the AI's product identification) is sent to SerpAPI. No images are shared with SerpAPI — only the product name as a search query.
Your haul data: Your scanned items, haul names, prices, costs, and thumbnails are stored locally on your device in your browser's localStorage. This data is under your control. We cannot see, access, or recover your local haul data if you clear it.
Analytics: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people use finna. This collects standard analytics data including: pages viewed, features used, device type, and general geographic region. Google Analytics uses cookies. You can learn more about how Google uses this data at Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, or any personally identifiable information. There are no user accounts. We do not store your photos on our servers. We do not sell any data to third parties.
Anonymized scan data is used to: improve AI pricing accuracy, understand which product categories users scan most, identify where the AI makes errors, and guide product development. We may use aggregated, non-identifiable trends in marketing materials (e.g., "finna users have scanned over 10,000 items"). We will never sell individual scan data to third parties.
finna includes affiliate links to eBay (via the eBay Partner Network) and Amazon (via Amazon Associates). When you tap "Sell Yours" or "Buy New" or click on a sold comp listing, an affiliate tracking parameter is included in the URL. If you make a purchase through these links, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. These affiliate programs use their own cookies — see eBay's Privacy Policy and Amazon's Privacy Notice for details.
finna also links to Vendoo, a cross-listing tool, via a referral partnership. Vendoo's data practices are governed by their own privacy policy.
When enabled in settings, finna saves a watermarked copy of your product photo to your device's downloads. This photo stays on your device — it is not uploaded anywhere. You can disable this feature in Settings.
finna uses the following third-party services:
Google Gemini AI — for product identification and pricing analysis. Your product photos are processed by Google's AI models.
SerpAPI — for fetching eBay sold listing data. Only text search queries are sent, not images.
Supabase — for storing anonymized scan data. Supabase is a secure, SOC 2 compliant database platform hosted in the United States.
Google Analytics (GA4) — for understanding usage patterns and improving the product.
Stripe — for processing Pro subscription payments. Stripe handles all payment data securely. We never see or store your payment card information.
Google Fonts / Fontshare — for loading typefaces. These services may log standard web request data (IP address, browser type).
Local haul data is stored in your browser's localStorage, which is sandboxed to the finna domain and accessible only from your device. If you clear your browser data or uninstall the app, your local haul data will be permanently deleted.
Anonymized scan data is stored securely in Supabase's cloud infrastructure, hosted in the United States. This data does not contain personally identifiable information.
finna is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of finna after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
